This is where it all started for Firecracker.

The Firecracker Department Podcast launched in 2017 with its first guest, the legendary Jayne Eastwood (SCTV, Down the Road, Women Fully Clothed), as a way to amplify the voices of female and non-binary artists in the entertainment industry. 

We were, and still are, living in a world that needs more platforms for our voices to create a better gender parity. Created by Naomi Snieckus (Second City, Mr.D, Pretty Hard Cases, Big Stuff), the Firecracker Department Podcast began as a space for candid, inspiring conversations about creativity, career challenges, and breaking barriers. 

Over the last eight years, it has grown into a thriving community, featuring over 250 episodes with a diverse range of trailblazing international guests—from actors and writers to directors and producers. What started as a passion project has become not only a series of mini masterclasses but a powerful platform for connection, mentorship, and celebrating underrepresented voices in the arts.

Our podcast is the seed that started it all. It remains the touchstone for all we endeavour to do at Firecracker, and reignites our passion bi-weekly.
